G'day people of the web,
This is my first post and no one is in here with me...that seems good to me...hopefully everyone is actually working and knows what they are talking about.
Q. I am about to launch my company website called financeplanet.com.au. I have has a few consultation with some Melbourne SEO companies and the prices were UNBELEIVABLE - $20K minimum.
I then did a few weeks research to find out whether I could do it myself. I've discoverd alot about things that you guys would dream of in your sleep such a doorway pages, metatags et etc and have picked up on alot.
For the amount that most people want to charge I can get some fantastic immediate results from pay per click advertising and some other media to drive traffic.
My questions is if I want to make my site a clear leader in its field, should I do a bit of research and do it myslef (I want to have it listed on engines in a week - content already done) or pay a professional.???
Any honest thoughts would be appreciated.

welcome goinsomewhere!
It is not hard to create a great website that will achieve good rankings. It is very difficult and timeconsuming for a newcomer to accomplish this, and impossible to do it in 1 month. A more reasonable expectation for a brand new website is 3+ months on most search engines, 6+ months in Google.
