Trusted Feeds are designed to help website owners get their content indexed. If your site is already well ranked with AltaVista, inktomi, teoma or alltheweb, performing a
Trusted Feed most likely will not to provide much additional
value. Trusted Feeds are designed to do a few things:

[list:6d645df8d0]
1. Help website owners get unique content indexed that was otherwise
uncrawlable by the search engines, such as large database driven
websites.

2. Decrease upfront indexing fees for big sites with thousands of
pages. AltaVista, Alltheweb, Inktomi, and Ask Jeeves all offer a
pay per url programs which become expensive when submitting
thousands of pages. Trusted Feeds lower upfront costs and allow
you to only pay for quality traffic.

3. Frequent content refreshes up to every 48 hours if needed. This is very valuable feature for websites that have content that is always changing and needs to get either be indexed or pulled from the search engines in a timely manner.

4. Reporting on all searches performed. Trusted Feed advertisers have access to the keyword terms people used to find your content. This is very
valuable data for identifying new keyword markets and your ongoing
optimization efforts.

5. Search engine will only crawl an XML document rather than your website which is opposite of the pay-for-url programs which crawl your website. Crawling only an XML document to rank your content for indexing offers a number of additional benefits for advertisers which include: Custom Page Titles, Custom Meta Description and Keywords tags, unique content that would be unavailable on a graphics heavy page.

Search engines also benefit a benefit since XML feeds help them get a pure representation of your content without having to crawl thru navigation, java script, and irrelevant code that is ignored anyway.

I believe that regular, non Trusted Feed websites will always outrank this paid system, because it is too easy to manipulate results. A skilled SEO could create wonderfully worded pages that could easily fool search engines and skew the results pages.
