|
|
Hi,
I just created my first website and I am planning to submit it to the search engines. Now two different opinions are brought to my knowledge about the keywords:
1.) Put as many as possible (in order to get the website shown to as many people as possible)
2.) Put only the absolutely specific ones (in order to get the website show to the most targeted prospects).
What is the opinion of the experts?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Martin
Personally when launching a new site I've made my keyword focus on roughly 6-10 kw phrases - many more will naturally make themselves known as the site is found and I'll add more or shift some focus as time goes on. I've found trying to focus on too many from the get go will result in none being effective.
One of the more important things to make focus on are: what phrases are people looking for?
It can be really easy to assume what phrases will get your site traffic but even being off slightly will result in minimal or none.
One good tool for determining what people are looking for is:
