Actually, having links to your site is essential for ranking in search engines. Reciprocal links is the easiest method to acquire incoming links, hence a "links page" is common, almost mandatory in any SEO campaign.
Having a "links page" doesn't mean you have to necessarily sacrifice quality or credibility. Just be careful who you link to. |

| One way to overcome angst about having a links page is to create a page of "Places we can be found on the Internet" |

Also; it's never a bad idea to post a little note somewhere on your links page stating that:
the links are there as a resource, that they'll open in a new window, they are external to your site, and that you are not responsible for the content, products, or services that these external sites offer. |

| Another thing that can be done if people do not want a links page is to place them on a certain section of your website. Dor example you could have a column on the right hand side of your website displaying links, and every page has different links. |

many of our, linkagexpress.com, higher end link needing clients prefer this "where we can..." method as it tends to remove the sometimes implied relationship or endorsement of the link partners without actually having to place a statement on their site that the 'links go to external sites, we're not responsible for their content, etc, etc...'
though it's not a bad idea to absolve oneself of the relationship via a statement either. |
