Many people insist on creating flash websites. All the major search engines have been able to index flash for a long time, but just because its possible doesnt mean it works well or that sites will show up in results. Indexing and ranking are completely different functions. There are no flash heavy websites that enjoy decent ranking in competive markets.
Here is a list of why you should refrain from relying on flash:

print page rarely works
you cannot email a user a link or send people to a specific page
broken back button
can be very slow on non broadband connections
invisible to search engines
can be difficult to update - only a flash programmer can make major changes

There are many alternatives to creating a website in 100% flash, such as using an embedded flash movie in a normal HTML page. This also saves search engine spiders. |
