I have personally used G alert and i find it a very helpful free tool. I think that Google is very accommodating to allow this service to exist. They required that Google Alert changed their logo, but they did not, as they could have, required each user to sign up for the API service with a 1000 query/week cap. |

| What exactly, in lamen (sp?) terms, is "API"? Will someone please explain how an "API" works and/or point out some resources that can better educate me about them? |
