| I think that is a very good step. So many people just get rid of their domains because they are banned... not there may be some hope in sight for them! |

Here is a post from Matt Cuts describing how to be reincluded in Google if you are banned.
Note it requires a detailed explanation of what SEO techniques you have employed and speficic guarantees it will not happen again.
