A common ploy used by marketers is to promise the moon, and make broad claims about rankings they can magically conjure. No claims are made to the number of qualified visitors they will bring to your site. This is simply untrue and shows they do not know what they are doing. If a SEO company promises #1 ranking for 40 keywords, run away.

These will be keywords that no one would ever use to find your business. Obscure and irrelevant keywords will do nothing for your business, and waste your time and money. Worse, its likely these unscrupulous SEO companies will use black hat techniques that cause PENALTIES in search engines, leaving you further behind than when you started.
