Most SEO's agree that the single most important part of a search engine marketing campaign is choosing the correct keyword phrases. You need to know what potential customers will be searching for.

A new study using world wide search data shows 32.58 percent of the people use 2 word phrases, 25.61 percent use 3 word phrases and 19.02 percent use a 1 word phrase.

As more information is available online it is necessary to refine your search to be as specific as possible.

This coincides with another marketing study that shows generic keyword phrases are good for brand building (similar to banner ads) and multiple word keyword phrases produce the highest conversions. Even though generic words have the potential to bring in significant traffic (if you can achieve the non trivial task of procuring the ranking) conversions will likely be dissapointing.

Again, its quality, not quantity that will help your business grow.
