Many webmasters lament about the secretive and obscure nature of this popular directory. The key to getting your website listed is the same as with Yahoo:
First, be patient. It often takes 6-8 weeks for the overworked volunteers to look at your site.
Your website must be finished - no empty pages. Nothing under construction.
Good websites have fast loading pages, and relevant content. Affiliate sites need not apply.
Whatever you do, do NOT bombard DMOZ volunteers with repeatsubmissions. If you apply more than once a month, they'll ignore you until the end of time and may never list you. E-mailing volunteers will rarely produce results.
Only submit to ONE category that is the most relevant to your site. If you submit to a dozen different categories, the best that will happen is the duplicates will be ignored. The worst is you will never be listed. |
