Hi all,
Question - Is Yahoo! worth submitting to these days even though they now charge $300 per year for submissions??
If so - what are the advantages...
Thanks - all comments much appreciated.

It depends on a few things if Yahoo is worth submitting too. Especially since Yahoo! is still powered by Google. A big advantage is the link popularity boost your website gets by listing in Yahoo!'s directory. At the other hand, many websites do well without having paid for the listing.
If you are competing close with other sites, I suggest get listed in Yahoo!. If not, you should be able to do fine without. |

One thing I have always wondered - how many inbound links do you get from a Yahoo listing?? Is it really worth it from a link popularity perspective?
Thanks for your input thus far! |

| You get one inbound link from a Yahoo! listing. To me it is worth just as much as a free listing in DMOZ. |

Only one link... That is odd!
Perhaps the $30 is better spent elsewhere...
Thanks a mil. for the advice though! |

Hi All
IMHO it depends on the market.
If your sales can generate reasonable income and there is some reasonable traffic to be had, then Yahoo makes sense, even at that price.
Trying to estimate whether your market is 'right' for Yahoo is the tricky bit  |

Actually, having a link from the Yahoo directory is a big boost to your link popularity. There is no question it is extremely valuable. The biggest question is if you can justify the cost.
Direct traffic from the Yahoo directory is minimal at best compared to their standard web results. Personally i only recommend it if someone already spends several hundred online marketing dollars per month. |
