The best way to research keywords for your website is to signup for Google Adwords. Pick your keywords, and run a campaign for a month, making sure your ads display on page 1. In the campaign you will see the number of impressions, hence the exact number of searches for that keyword on google per month.

This is not free, and takes some time, but will give you accurate data to begin your SEO campaign. Online marketing is all about finding the best keywords.
