this is a big deal - this free program is simple to use and provides the data you need to determine the success rate of your online marketing campaigns.
emphasis is on simple - other programs have more features, but are way too confusing. people dont use things they dont understand.
One problem with google analytics is they report quite differently from your server logfiles. i have seen as much as 10% deviation from actual logs compared to their javascript based tracking.
The reason Google misses so much could be because people may have javascript disabled, disable external scripts from running on a site, or pages fail to completely load.
Another problem is it is difficult to get Analytics to properly track adwords accounts, and very time consuming to have it track other PPC accounts such as YSM.
Maybe Google doesnt want you to know how low adwords conversions actually are. And dont forget that by installing javascript that links to google, you are giving them direct access to all aspects of your site and its usage patterns.
There's something wrong about having the same company sell you ads and track the effectiveness of those ads. Google makes A LOT of money on adwords, wouldnt it be in their best interest to maximize the ad cost to you and report as little click fraud as possible?
you can use advanced tracking for dynamic URL's
