Does anyone know when the deep crawl will start?
Also, is there a way to tell, something like how you can get an alert when the dance starts?

The deep crawl usually happens from late in the month up to about midmonth and the server data refresh is the dance.

The deep crawl does usually happen in the week or two following the dance.

You can get dance alerts via email from google-dance.com and they have a pretty tool to see how you'll be effected following the dance.

Because of the screwyness of this last dance they didn't send out an email as it was real tough to pinpoint exactly when it started. The dance prior to that was off too and it seemed to only last a couple hours instead of the 2-3 days many of us have become accustomed to - perhaps soon it'll be something we'll no longer be able to watch or not worth watching.

It was my understanding that the 'deep crawl' and the 'dance' were happened at 2 seperate times. The dance occurs at the very end, or very beginning of the month, then the deep crawl shortly after. The next dance afterwards, uses the pages from the previous deep crawl.
Is that correct :?:

Yes you are correct the dance and the deep crawl are different... the deep crawl usually happens from late in the month up to about midmonth and the server data refresh is the dance. It's somewhat dependant on PR and other factors surrounding your site.

The deep crawl does usually happen after the dance. Watch your log files for the googlebot IPs they vary but should be around 216.239.46.* and the freshbot, in perpetual crawl, around 64.68.82.*. Sometimes during a dance google does some crawling, but usually even if you are crawled during a dance, you are crawled again early the next month.

Yes - the next dance you'll see that which was picked up during the crawl.
